Report a problem or file a takedown notice
Last updated 2026-09-16. Australia has no copyright "safe harbour" for marketplaces, so we take notices seriously and act on them quickly.
Who can file
The owner of a copyright, trade mark or registered design (or their authorised agent), or anyone who has seen a listing or enquiry that appears to involve a prohibited item — weapons or firearm parts, unsafe medical or vehicle parts, counterfeits — or that is otherwise unlawful or misleading.
What to include
- Identify the work or right — what is being copied: the product, the sculpt, the mark or the registered design number, with a link to the original if it is public.
- Identify what you are reporting — the maker listing URL (
makernear.com/maker/?m=…), or the enquiry reference / date / file name if you are a maker who received a suspect brief. - Your rights — a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them, and that you believe in good faith the use is not permitted by the rights holder, their agent, or the law.
- Contact details — name, organisation, email and, if you wish, phone, so we and the other party can respond.

What we do
- We acknowledge and act within two business days. On a facially valid notice the file, enquiry or listing is disabled immediately and the uploader or maker is notified with a copy of the notice (your contact details included, so they can respond).
- Prohibited-item reports are checked the same day; unlawful material is deleted, never forwarded, and may be reported to police.
- Everything — the notice, our action, and any counter-notice — is logged with dates.
Counter-notice
If your file or listing was disabled and you believe the notice was mistaken (you hold a licence, the work is your own, or the claim does not cover what you sent), reply to our notification within 10 business days with: what was removed, why you believe it is not infringing, your contact details and consent to us passing your response to the complainant. If the complainant does not confirm they are taking the matter further within 10 business days of receiving your counter-notice, we restore the listing or release the file to the maker.
Repeat-infringer policy
Two upheld notices against the same maker in any 12-month period = the maker is delisted. Two upheld notices against the same buyer = their email address is blocked from sending enquiries or applying to list. Flagrant cases (weapon files, obvious counterfeits) can be acted on at the first notice.
Other problems
Wrong details on a listing, a maker who never replied, or something that looks like a scam: use the same address with a plain-language description and the listing link. Privacy requests (see your data, have it removed): privacy policy.
